Dr. Justin Gibson
Dr. Gibson earned his doctorate in clinical psychology at Marshall University in West Virginia. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at CU Boulder and pre-doctoral internship at Wasatch Behavioral Health in Utah. Dr. Gibson provides psychotherapy and psychological assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Gibson has provided services to all age ranges in a variety of setting including college campuses, facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities, private practice, federal prison, and community mental health. He sees himself as a generalist and takes a person-centered approach to treatment utilizing CBT techniques to assist people in finding themselves and improving their lives to become a better form of themselves.
Dr. Gibson's areas of focus includes anxiety, depression, mood disorders, identity development, trauma, relationships, personality disorders, grief, and serious mental illness. While working in Utah he worked with many individuals who were former members of the LDS faith which he found fulfilling. He also has worked with numerous international students while at CU Boulder and values cultural differences. He has experience conducting psychological assessments for diagnostic clarification and to assist clients in receiving accommodations.
Dr. Gibson prides himself in being able to quickly establish rapport and create an environment that all feel welcome. This is especially important with children as being able to relate and make them feel safe is a must to facilitate change. The first few sessions he spends trying to understand who you are as a person through a curious and comforting perspective. Throughout treatment he implements a direct yet empathetic style to foster growth and assist individuals in learning skills while exploring who they are and want to be.
