Dr. Gabrielle Eberstein is a postdoctoral fellow here at Birch Psychology who is pursuing her license as a psychologist. While she has experience with providing individual therapy to a range of adult clients, she is particularly passionate about serving queer and trans clients, women, and those who have experienced trauma and stigma. She utilizes active listening, empathy, and empowerment to build a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients in the hope they can work together to relieve distress and achieve therapeutic goals.

Dr. Eberstein earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago, Illinois, and completed her predoctoral internship at Adler Community Health Services where she provided individual therapy, group therapy, and assessment services to women being released from the Illinois Department of Corrections as well as young adults volunteering in Chicago Public Schools. Prior to this, she worked in a private clinic which specialized in providing therapy services to LGBTQ adults. She has experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, interpersonal and relational issues, identity development, and gender issues.

Humans are inherently social creatures, and because of this, Dr. Eberstein believes that our early attachments and our relationships greatly impact the way we view ourselves, others, and the world throughout our lifespans. When our interpersonal needs are not met, we can experience a number of issues which leave us feeling distressed. Because the relationships in our lives are so crucial to our wellbeing, her approach is using the dynamics present in the relationship between her and her clients as a way of exploring the integration of attachment, interpersonal relationships, and self-organization as the motivation for change, with the goal of helping clients with getting their needs met and alleviating distress.

Dr. Eberstein provides clinical and assessment services at Birch Psychology. She is also available for speaking engagements and consultation and can be reached at gabrielle.eberstein@birchpsychology.com and 303.834.1026
