15 Ways To Relearn to Love Life

We all get overwhelmed, some easily and more frequently than others, and it takes a very experienced person to know exactly what to do to calm down again. I have compiled 15 tried and true ways to help yourself loosen up when things get too tough to manage.

One- Relax with your favorite beverage. Walk to your kitchen or drive to your favorite place, get a drink that makes you happy, and enjoy it for five minutes or so.

Two- Go for a walk. Do this alone, without your phone, music, child, or dog if possible, and look around and look up.

Three- Breathe deeply. Breathe in for two, hold for two, breathe out for six. You may find another breathing pattern suits you better, but the important thing is to count your breaths and keep steady.

Four- Do some simple stretches. Pull up a YouTube video for 10 minutes and stretch, or do whatever makes you feel good.

Five- Drink a bottle of water and eat a fruit. Try to drink water or something low sugar with electrolytes, and follow it up with a fruit of your choice.

Six- Put on an old playlist of music you used to like and sing-along in your car. I found that singing as loud as possible helps.

Seven- Complete a small project you have been meaning to do that you find fun. Sometimes that can mean updating a photo album, writing a letter, or even organizing a dresser.

Eight- Go sit outside and close your eyes for however long you have.

Nine- Go shopping for things you need (or want if you have the capability). This can mean grocery shopping if that does not stress you out, online shopping if that's all you can manage, or wandering around your favorite store and grabbing an item or two.

Ten- Join or sign up for something you have been meaning to do. Try it out, but have some thing that you can look forward to.

Eleven- Plan a last-minute day or activity with your spouse, friend, or family member. Drop everything and go!

Twelve- Take a bath, put on a face mask, and light a candle.

Thirteen- Start a book you've been meaning to read. Even if you only have 30 minutes to read it now, starting it now may mean you actually finish it sometime soon.

Fourteen- Clean. This may sound like it's not for everyone, but you may find that being productive with something less stressful that you see an immediate impact from can be beneficial.

Fifteen- Plan for the future and set up a couple therapy appointments for yourself. You may not need weekly sessions, but even once a month sessions with a therapist can really help us get a better outlook on our life, decompress, and make strategies for the future.

I hope these help!
